July 22, 2014, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve Agenda Item #34, to transfer the defunct Francisco Park from the SFPUC, to the Recreation & Park Department to create a new public park for San Francisco. This is a major step in the process of moving forward with a plan to turn the empty, concrete reservoir that was decommissioned over 60 years ago into green, open space. The new park will be a true benefit to the neighborhoods surrounding Russian Hill, which has long been high-dense area with limited open spaces residents can use for recreation.
