12119910_1023347071030596_7976637152801691058_o

Calling all ghosts and goblins! Put on your spooky faces–the fun starts at 11 a.m. at Northpoint Center, where stores are opening up their doors for trick or treat! Take a rest, and continue your Halloween festivities at Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center at 2 p.m, Tel-Hi’s gym will be transformed into a ghostly Halloween haunted house!

A “haunted house”—a favorite place for ghostly North Beach visitors from the past, will boast such things as coffins, mad scientists, body parts, etc. so you don’t want to miss that, Booths for such fun things as face painting, tattoos, and a fortune teller will be there, and the adjacent yard will have a toddler/preschool-sized jumpy house on the black top. The playground will also be open for the children and maybe a spooky story might be told by an eerie creature.

Tel-Hi is looking to recruit 15-20 volunteers for the event. Such roles will include supervision of jumpy houses, popcorn and snow cone machine makers, and volunteers for face painting and tattoos.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact Jeff at  JNg@telhi.org.

Let’s Grow! An Urban
Teaching Garden for All Ages

Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center in North Beach launched an online campaign to raise the funds needed to complete the Urban Teaching Garden and is asking for your support. Please make a tax-deductible donation today by clicking here and visit the Tilt fundraising page Any amount,grow-2 no matter how large or small, is appreciated. When you donate any amount to the Urban Teaching Garden, you’ll receive a pack of seeds to grow in your own home. Then if/when Tel Hi Tilts, they’ll send you an invitation to a reception at the Center — to celebrate the completion of our Urban Teaching Garden.

The garden is a community garden providing something for everyone–helping connect children to nature, having a garden for the seniors’ exercise program, and beautifying the neighborhood The garden still needs some basic equipment, including benches for people to sit on, an outdoor classroom with a potting station and sink, an irrigation system, and more plants, so donate today. Also, Tel-Hi is using the hashtag #telhigarden on social media to raise awareness about the fundraiser and encourage others to share pictures of their own garden and plants so join in.
